Acheron built an AI-powered localization and brand adaptation engine to address this need. The platform delivers translations that are not only linguistically accurate but are also perfectly tailored to the brand’s voice, enabling faster go-to-market and ensuring consistency across diverse regional sub-brands.

Challenges

The client, a major global e-commerce entity, struggled to maintain brand fidelity across its diverse portfolio using traditional methods:

  • Inadequate Translation APIs: Standard translation tools provided literal language conversion but failed to capture the necessary context, tone, and brand personality.

  • Tonal Inconsistency: The client managed several sub-brands, each targeting a unique demographic (e.g., toddlers, teens, premium lifestyle). The required tone—parental, fun/casual, or aspirational/refined—was lost in translation.

  • Scalability Issues: Manual localization teams could not keep up with the volume of work required to maintain these distinct brand voices across thousands of SKUs and their associated visual assets.

  • Disjointed Workflow: The process for text localization was separate from the process for adapting creative visuals, slowing down the full-cycle content publishing.

Objectives

The core objectives were to develop a scalable, intelligent localization system that could respect and automate brand voice consistency across all target markets:

  • Achieve Brand-Tone Fidelity: Ensure every translated product description and asset precisely matches the required tone and context of the specific sub-brand and audience.

  • Increase Speed & Scale: Drastically reduce the manual effort and time required for localization to accelerate the international go-to-market timeline.

  • Unify Text and Visuals: Create a single, automated workflow that links text translation with the localization and rendering of creative assets.

  • Control API Usage: Implement a robust interface to manage and standardize requests to the large language model (LLM) for efficiency and cost control.

The Solution

Acheron designed a custom AI-based localization platform that combines advanced LLM capabilities with programmatic design tools to automate the entire content adaptation process.

Key Features:

  • Brand-Specific AI Models (Prompt Layer): A tailored, engineered prompt defined the unique tone, vocabulary, and audience context for each sub-brand (e.g., formal lexicon for premium products, casual phrases for teen products).

  • Controlled Prompting Portal: A proprietary interface was built to manage interactions with the OpenAI model, standardizing inputs to ensure consistent quality and optimizing requests to prevent excessive token usage.

  • Creative Asset Localization Engine: Integration with CHILI Publish’s Smart Template Engine allowed Photoshop design files to be converted into dynamic templates.

    • The AI-generated, localized copy was automatically inserted into these templates via API.

    • New visual assets (PNG/JPEG) were then rendered programmatically for each market.

  • API Integration: The entire localization process was exposed via an API for seamless, high-volume integration with the client’s existing CMS and e-commerce publishing platforms.

How It Works

  1. The platform executes a unified, full-cycle localization workflow:

    1. Source Content Ingestion: Product descriptions and marketing copy are fed into the system.

    2. Brand-Tone Processing: The content is routed to the custom Controlled Prompting Portal. This portal applies the appropriate Brand-Specific Prompt Layer (e.g., ‘Teen Tone’) before sending the request to the OpenAI model.

    3. Localized Text Generation: The OpenAI model returns the translation, which is perfectly adapted for the target language and brand tone.

    4. Visual Asset Automation: The AI-generated copy is sent to the CHILI Publish engine via API. The engine programmatically inserts the new text into the corresponding creative templates.

    5. Distribution: The engine renders the localized visuals (e.g., an ad banner for the German market) and automatically stores the final files in the DAM for downstream e-commerce channel distribution.
